The Jesus Challenge!

As I sit here at 9:00 in the orthodontists office for Brenna, my wife is across town (Tulsa) for a doctor’s visit which is at 9:45 and then I will pick them up and head to Sand Springs for a doctor’s appointment for Bella at 10:50 – It’s Monday! Again. Why does it seem that life piles on top of itself, daily!? I don’t know about you, but for me there is never a dull moment in life especially when it comes to living in a family of 6 and at the same time trying to lead a church. But despite the busyness, we still choose what dominates our time. Now there are days like today, 3 appointments in a race against the clock to get to each appointment on time. But most often life and its calling to dominate my time (and for that matter, my family’s time as well) stems from my choices (and my family’s choices.) I am not writing this to beat each of us down for our choices, but to beg you and I to make one specific choice inside of the choices that we have already made (and the future ones too!) Will you determine to make your busy schedule centered on HIM? Of course we all want to say, “Absolutely, for this is what true followers of Jesus do!” Right? But specifically, I want you and I to take the challenge to be intentional in bringing people to the realization that Jesus rules our lives, even over our schedules. This means a few things: 1. I will allow disruptions to be opportunities to shine for HIM without being upset or agitated! 2. I will look for opportunities to share what God is doing in my life, and what HE has done (the cross, empty tomb and a promise to return to take us home.) 3. I will make the most of each moment to invite and encourage people about the body of Jesus (a.k.a. the church). I know we are heading in to the beginning of November, really I am aware of the timing, but I want to make a plea, a challenge, a charge! Easter (Resurrection Sunday) is coming in about 6 months. I want to challenge you and your whole family (and mine) to start inviting and planning to bring 5 other families to our Easter services. This is a big challenge, but at the same time one we can do in the middle of our busy lives. Let’s give our all for Jesus purposefully, for the next 6 months! What do you say? Are you up for the challenge? Don’t make this decision lightly! Talk it over as a family. Pray about it to the Father. Then jump on board. Keep your eyes open on more challenges on this in the coming months ahead. We want to empower you and equip you to be successful in this adventure. May HIS Kingdom come, may HIS will be done – on earth as it is in heaven!
